Oliveira sees Topuria as the winner in a duel against Tsarukyan: "It's going to be a tremendous fight."

Following his conquest of the UFC lightweight belt, speculation has been rife about who Ilia Topuria's next opponent will be. Paddy Pimblett, Max Holloway, and Justin Gaethje are some of the names that have been mentioned the most. However, in recent weeks, Arman Tsarukyan, the current number two at 155 pounds, appears to be the best-positioned fighter for El Matador's first title defense.

The Spanish-Georgian's latest victim, Charles Oliveira, has already given his prediction regarding this potential fight. "Wow, that's a fight between a solid fighter and a guy with really good striking," the Brazilian stated in an interview with Thunderpick . Oliveira knows both fighters well. Both Topuria and Tsarukyan defeated the Brazilian in their respective bouts. "I think Arman is a very dangerous guy, super tough. But, honestly, I think Topuria has a better chance of winning. Even so, it's going to be a tremendous fight," Do Bronx assured.

Controversial return

Even though it's only been two months since his painful loss to El Matador, the former Brazilian champion already has his next fight booked , which will be on October 11 in Rio de Janeiro against Rafael Fiziev . He also reflected on his imminent return to the UFC cage during the interview.

"I went home, took a deep breath, and started training again because I want to improve . I asked Hunter and the UFC to fight in Brazil, in front of my family, in front of my people," Oliveira told Thunderpick . "It would be magical. And thank God, it's happening. Of course, he's a very tough opponent; Fiziev is no joke. But I'm really happy and focused. My mentality is infallible. And when I'm happy, when I'm feeling brave, things flow naturally," Do Bronx recounted.

Although many experts, like Daniel Cormier's , consider Oliveira's return too hasty after his knockout at UFC 317 last June, the Brazilian expressed excitement at the opportunity to fight in front of his home crowd. "It's been a long time since I fought in Brazil. And, whether you like it or not, when you fight here, you're doing it in front of your people, your family. That makes it huge. I'm very motivated and happy," the former champion clarified.
